Facilities

It is important that learners are happy with the facilities available where they are learning.  This is important for all courses, but critical for IT courses, where the IT facilities are fundamental to the learning. It's no good being on an IT course where the computers don't work, for example!  The table below shows people's experiences of the Facilities on IT courses.

Statement Agree Neither agree nor disagree Disagree
Always enough computers 87% 7% 6%
Computers always worked 74% 16% 10%
Computers/software up to date 83% 12% 5%
Comfortable place to learn 85% 12% 4%
Totally happy with the building's facilities 82% 5% 3%

In general it can be seen that learners were happy with the facilities on their IT courses.  The issue that stands out as being an issue is the reliability of the computers, as one in ten people said that the computers don't always work.

"All attempts were made to keep pc's working but three had dodgy days e.g. refused to save work, but this was constantly changing- one week it would work, another it wouldn't!"

Clearly, this issue could have a big potential to affect the learning experience, especially in venues where there are only enough computers for the number of learners.  It's important therefore, that providers keep their computers maintained, and if possible, have spare computers in case there is a problem.
