Listed below are all of the reports written by the Learners’ Forum.  Most are the findings of projects looking into a specific issue, but there are a few that take the data from a project in a new direction, or utilise the data from more than one project.  The reports can be downloaded below, and we would be happy to post out free hard copies to those who want them.  Please contact us  if you want any.  Publications are listed in chronological order, with most recent first.  Click on a report title below for more information about that report:

Getting IT right- Views on IT courses in Hull looks at the provision of IT courses in Hull, from both the perspective of learners on the courses, and those who haven’t got involved.

‘Too much to do in the real world’- A discussion of views on learning in Hull develops ideas about the nature of a learning culture in Hull, and the reasons behind that culture. 

Communities and computers- an evaluation of Residents.net focuses on Residents.net, a network created by giving free PC’s, training and support alongside subsidised internet access to community groups. 

Rhema Youth Works Schools Project- Experiences from the Pilot Year picks out the key lessons to learn from a project for ‘disaffected’ young people run as an alternative to school.

A Digital City?- Attitudes to Learning & Technology in Hull looks at people's views of increased technology use in learning, and discusses the potential for mixing learning and technology in Hull. 

Moving On in Hull explores the views of learners on Move On courses in Hull, which are aimed at increasing learners' basic numeracy and literacy.

Learning as an Adult- The Attitudes of Learners in Hull looks at the motivations, triggers and barriers to learning as well as outcomes of learning as an adult.

What Kind of Education do Young People need? discusses the education that young people are offered, and asks whether it is appropriate for the world we live in. 

Report on voluntary and community sector organisations and young people in Hull looks at the capacity of the voluntary and community sectors in Hull to provide study support activities for young people.

Incapacity Benefit in Hull looks at the aspirations of those on incapacity benefit regarding learning and work.

Basic IT Courses in Hull- A Briefing Paper details potential issues with IT courses raised in ‘Learning to Listen, Listening to Learn’. 

Learning to Listen, Listening to Learn looks at the views of Hull residents regarding learning, drawing out the issues of most importance to them including those things that encourage people to learn and those things that prevent them from learning. 

Widening Participation through the Adult & Community Learning Fund in Hull focuses on the running of an Adult and Community Learning Fund project in Hull, and draws out the good practice from the perspective of participating community groups.

All our Futures-extending schools & community: The DfES 5 year strategy in Hull is a summary of the strategy, with areas highlighted in red that provide potential opportunities for the Voluntary and Community sector in the city to get involved.
