Volcom's Information Service

The Information service provided by the Learners’ Forum extends to anything related to learning, for example funding for learning, available courses, government policy, good practice and issues relating to learning such as transport.  This information service came about as a result of our experiences whilst doing capacity building with voluntary and community groups in Hull previous to receiving funding for the Learners’ Forum.  We found that many of the groups did not have the time to sort through the huge amount of learning related information available to find what they were looking for.  At the time, there was no-one in the city distilling and sorting this information in a quick and accessible form, and groups were asking for such a service regarding learning.

The main way that the Learner’s Forum has met this need is our Infomail service.  All kinds of information relating to learning is examined, and relevant information is ‘translated’ into a brief email.  Users can then choose to follow up the information with the links or contact details provided.

Alongside this, the Learners’ Forum also try to answer requests that come to us regarding learning from voluntary and community groups.
