» Themes/Experiences of learning Tutors The relationship that learners had with their tutor was significant. When it was a good relationship learning tended to be a successful and enjoyable experience. A poor relationship led to people either not doing well, dropping out of courses or becoming frustrated with learning generally. Tutors had the biggest impact on those who lacked confidence in their own ability. The following sections explore the impact of tutors in different learning contexts. Encouraging young people looks at the the role tutors played in a youth work project working with school children on the verge of exclusion. Tutors and learning online looks at the concerns some people had about learning online. Some people said they would prefer to be taught face to face than online. Tutors and learning IT summarises what respondents told us about their IT tutors. First rung learning discusses how tutors can make taking that first step back into formal learning as positive an experience as possible for the learner. Back to Experiences of learning
